I completed 5,862 pull-ups in Times Square on Veterans Day 2015. The world counted them as proof. I knew they were cover. A body that would not quit was easier to show than the man who had already failed the people who needed me most.

Ashes Still Sing is a literary memoir about what we inherit, what combat feeds, what betrayal costs a marriage, and what it takes for a father to become someone who stays. Waiʻanae. Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Marines. Ramadi, 2005. Ministry. Collapse. Faith after I had already burned rooms I was supposed to keep. The book is the long work of answering for that, and of finding, on the other side of it, curiosity, service, and a life that can still make something new.

The manuscript is complete. If you want to read it when it has a home, join the list. If you work in publishing, write me.
